Hardy statement on shooting deaths of service members in Tennessee

Statement

Date: July 16, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Following word from the U.S. Marine Corps of the tragic shooting deaths today of four U.S. Marines in Chattanooga, Tenn., Congressman Cresent Hardy (NV-4) issued the following statement:

"I am outraged and grieved to hear of the shooting deaths of four U.S. Marines, and injuries to others, today in Tennessee. My heart goes out to the victims' loved ones, friends and fellow service members. Our troops willingly put their lives on the line in deployed locations worldwide, and the last place they should feel threatened is at home on U.S. soil. Early news reports indicate the law enforcement response was swift, decisive, and resulted in the death of a single known shooter. I trust the ensuing multiagency investigation will bring to justice any others who may have been involved in this horrific act."
